Once you have filed a workers’ compensation claim, you should be paid on your next pay day. Payments must commence within 14 days of the claim being lodged with the employer.

🚗 Mylinda is on the road again!

Today she's in Devonport at the Tasmanian Rural Health Conference, connecting with GPs and other health professionals and sharing information about the free support available through Worker Assist Tasmania and the Working Women’s Centre Tasmania.

This year's theme, "Generalism: Courage, Continuity and Connection," celebrates the critical role generalist practitioners play in rural and regional communities. The conference highlights the resilience, adaptability and strong community connections that define rural healthcare, qualities that are essential in supporting injured workers throughout their recovery and return-to-work journey.

We're also taking the opportunity to help doctors and other health professionals better understand Tasmania’s workers compensation system and the role Worker Assist Tasmania plays in supporting injured workers. By providing free, independent information and guidance, Worker Assist helps workers navigate the workers compensation process and supports positive recovery and return-to-work outcomes.

As part of the Working Women’s Centre Tasmania, we're also highlighting the free and confidential support available to women in the healthcare profession. From advice and assistance with workers compensation matters, return-to-work issues and employment concerns, to support with workplace disputes, discrimination, bullying and harassment, the service is dedicated to helping women understand their rights and navigate challenges at work.

We're looking forward to meeting conference delegates throughout the day, learning more about the unique challenges and opportunities in rural healthcare, and exploring how we can work together to achieve better outcomes for Tasmanian workers and women working in healthcare.

Worker Assist Tasmania is a free service.

Unlike other organisations, there is no income test to access our help.

If you’ve been injured at work or are dealing with a workplace injury issue, we’ll guide you through the process with friendly, practical advice.

We can help with:
• Workers’ compensation claims and disputes
• Return to work advice and support
• Understanding your rights at work
• Information and referrals to other support services

Everyone deserves fair treatment and support at work, and we’re here to make sure you get it.

It’s been a busy day for WorkSafe Tasmania staff, with teams out and about across different events.

At the ANZMIC Conference, our team has been connecting with attendees and sharing information to support safer workplaces.

We’ve had a busy, but valuable few days connecting and learning at two important Tasmanian conferences focused on worker wellbeing, recovery and support.

Worker Assist Tasmania was proud to attend the National Moral Injury Conference in Launceston with WorkSafe Tasmania where conversations centred on the impact of workplace trauma, psychological injury and the importance of compassionate systems of support.

We also joined the TAVRP Conference in Hobart, engaging with professionals and advocates committed to improving outcomes for injured workers across Tasmania.

Thank you to the organisers, presenters and attendees for creating spaces for meaningful discussion, collaboration and shared learning. We look forward to continuing these conversations and supporting safer, healthier workplaces for all Tasmanians.

There are a number of ways your employer may dispute a claim.

Within the first 84 days of a claim, your employer can dispute your entitlements by filing a referral pursuant to s81A of the WRCA.

After the initial 84 days, the employer can still challenge your claim, but doing so becomes more difficult.

If your employer tells you they intend to dispute your claim, it is important to get some advice from Worker Assist Tasmania.
