What a couple of days it was for Women in Real Estate this year 🙌

Across Hobart and Launceston, the rooms were full of connection, honesty and celebrations of our tribe.

We heard from Linda Gulabovska, an award-winning property management leader, who shared her journey into real estate and the challenges she’s overcome along the way. Then Tanja Lee, CEO of Tanja Lee & Dr Matt , spoke on the importance of finding your tribe, and by the end of both events, it was clear ours is well and truly found.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made both days so special. Tasmania is lucky to have such a strong, supportive network of women in real estate.

A special thank you again to Maddi Clark Roberts Real Estate , who ran the auction raising money for Bears of Hope 🧸, a charity supporting families through the loss of a baby.

📹 A few more moments from across both events, Hobart and Launceston.

Could your agency help train Tasmania's next generation of real estate professionals? 🏡

REIT is launching a school-based traineeship program across Northern Tasmania. From 2027, up to 10 Year 12 students will complete their Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice while still at school, gaining real industry experience alongside their qualification.

We're looking for agencies willing to provide approximately 7.6 hours of paid work per week, whether that's after school, on Saturdays, or an arrangement that works for both parties.

Here's what's involved for participating agencies:

📌 Pay the student's wages for their working hours
📌 Cover the applicable superannuation and tax
📌 The school covers the cost of their Certificate IV training, so it's a genuinely affordable way to invest in future talent

This program is currently launching in Northern Tasmania, but we're keen to expand it across the state. If your agency is in the South or North West and would be interested in supporting a school-based trainee as the program grows, we'd love to hear from you.

Together, we can build clear career pathways for young people and a skilled, work-ready real estate workforce for Tasmania's future.

Earlier this week, our CEO Michelle Tynan, attended the Clifford Craig Foundation Women’s Brunch, a meaningful event focused on women’s health and raising awareness of gynaecological cancers.

As a Gold Sponsor, the REIT was pleased to support an important cause that highlights the need for greater awareness, early detection, research and support for women affected by cancer. It was inspiring to hear from passionate advocates and connect with women and community leaders who share a commitment to improving women’s health outcomes.

Thank you to the Clifford Craig Foundation for bringing the community together and shining a light on such an important issue. We were proud to be part of it.💚

This week we farewell James after more than 18 years of dedicated service to the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania.

James joined REIT as our receptionist back in February 2008, before moving into the training department, where he spent 12 years as Training Coordinator, supporting countless students throughout their studies. For the past decade, he's also been an integral part of our finance operations, a contribution recognised last year with a Service Excellence Award.

James' impact has always gone beyond any single role. He's always one of the first to crack a joke and lighten the mood, even during the busiest and most stressful times.

James, thank you for your contribution, your friendship, and 18 years of service. We wish you all the very best for whatever comes next.💚

Wow, what a big couple of days at the Women in Real Estate celebrations 🙌

To give you an idea of what the day held...

We heard from Linda Gulabovska, an award winning property management leader who shared her journey into real estate, the challenges she's overcome along the way, and the sheer zest she brings to life. Then Tanja Lee, CEO of the Evolution Agents took us through the importance of finding your tribe... and did we ever 🙌 Across both Launceston and Hobart, our tribes were full.

We're so grateful to everyone who joined us over the two days. We hope you felt as inspired, and felt the same collective support in the room, as we did. Tasmania is lucky to have such a strong network of women in real estate.

A special shout out to Maddi Clark, who ran the auction raising money for Bears of Hope 🧸 a charity supporting families through the loss of a baby.

📹 Here's a quick recap of Thursday's Launceston lunch, with more to come soon.

Ask anyone who's been in the real estate industry for a while how they built their business, and rarely will the answer be advertising spend or a clever campaign. It's almost always a person, someone who referred a client, vouched for their reputation, or shared something they'd learned the hard way.

Real estate rewards those relationships more than most industries, yet networking is often treated as an afterthought rather than an actual professional skill.

REIT events are built for exactly this, a room full of people worth knowing, at every stage of the industry.

Last week, we ran in-person training sessions for our Diploma of Property (Agency Management), focused on effective workplace management.

Participants practised real workplace conversations, including recognising strong performance and addressing where it's slipping. Practical, hands-on sessions like this give future managers a chance to build these skills before they're applying them on the job.

For agencies, that means staff coming through this diploma are better prepared to lead their teams.

RBA holds cash rate at 4.35 per cent.

The Reserve Bank of Australia's Board met earlier this week and decided to hold the cash rate at 4.35 per cent, following three rate rises earlier this year, and a hold at its June meeting.

The Board has indicated that inflation remains above target, and that a further rate rise has not been ruled out should conditions change. Monetary policy settings will continue to be assessed against incoming economic data.

For Tasmanian buyers and sellers, this weeks hold provides a period of stability in borrowing costs, a factor that may support confidence in market activity. However, affordability conditions built up over the course of the year remain in place.

The RBA Board meets eight times per year. Its next scheduled announcement will be held on 29 September 2026.
