During 1 January 2017 to 3 September 2017, there were 163 fatalities as a result of crashes within Queensland, which is six fatalities (or 3.6%) fewer than the same period for the previous year and eight fatalities (or 4.9%) fewer than the previous five year average for the same period.
Road crash data is maintained by the Department of Transport and Main Roads to provide statistics for accurate and timely analysis of road safety programs and for the development of new, effective road safety initiatives.
