Hey Legends. I'm doing the Brothers and Books World's Coolest Readathon to help support our Australian Defence Force and Emergency Service personnel.

As a part of the challenge I'll be reading 5 books in 50 days to promote resilience, reduce stress and raise awareness about our Australian front line services.

Click 'Donate' to make a secure online donation. All donations over $2 are tax deductible. Thank you for your support!

If you do the Challenge with me you will enjoy the benefits of finishing some of your books that are lying around, reducing stress, increasing your empathy and potentially reading an impactful story that could change your life!

Back in the office after an absolute blast of a time away! I spent the week exploring the wonderful backroads stretching from Tenterfield to Kingaroy, having a great deal of fun and meeting some tremendous people along the way. Apologies to delayed responses to emails or calls, but I’m back in chambers ready to bring on the remainder of 2023! 😎

It was a great honour and privilege to be invited back to my former high school, Emmanuel College, to deliver the “Major Chris Collette” speech in a preemptive ANZAC service held on 24 April 2023. I encouraged the students to continue the ANZAC spirit, remember the sacrifice of those who have gone before us, and living to honour their memory. It was a very moving service, and I was proud to see so many young faces at the service learning of the days’ significance. Lest we forget.

I was proud to serve in the ADF for seven years between 2012 and 2019, and always impressed by the work of Legacy, supporting family members of fallen and injured veterans. I would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!

Dear friends,

As someone who served in the ADF for seven years of full-time service, A social cause that is very near and dear to my heart is supporting Legacy Brisbane, who themselves support 5,499 family members of fallen and injured veterans across South-East, Central and Western Queensland.

This year, I am again taking part in the Run Army fundraising initiative to raise needed funds, and would appreciate any support you feel comfortable to give.

This is a registered fundraising initiative, receipts are provided for claiming on tax, etc.

I also welcome anyone who may wish to join me on 23 April walk/hobble/run the 10km between Miami and Burleigh and back.

Thank you for your support in supporting those who have served our great nation.

It was an absolute thrill to be invited back on to campus today to hold a forum with students undertaking family law studies, discussing the intersection of family law and criminal law. It’s also troubling to think I graduated from 13 years ago this year! Many memories of happy days with great friends, many I’m now proud to call colleagues, flooded back. Sending out the best vibes to my fellow bondies wherever life has taken you ☺️🌱

Some jurisdictions require parties to prior to making applications to the Court to resolve disputes. Many jurisdictions require parties make genuine efforts to resolve prior to a final hearing. It is always a pleasure to mediate matters towards knowing parties often feel a sense of and in being to make decisions themselves about the issues in dispute, rather than have those matters adjudicated. This is without the obvious cost-effectiveness of Alternative Dispute Resolution💰. My own thoughts about the function of mediators and mediation is best summarised in these four points ✅

It’s the first day of the last working week of #2022 . 2022 saw the return to some normality within the legal profession, but in my own experience there was a sense of a 2020/21 hangover, largely due to the uncertainty and business anxiety that existed from that time. The impending holiday feels like the first true break in nearly 24 months. Thank you to all who gave me the opportunity to assist at different stages of disputes, whether it was preliminary advice, mediation, family dispute resolution or advocacy. Wishing one and all a safe and festive close to their year.

Condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the fallen who passed away on 12 December 2022. Absolutely heartbreaking circumstances which robbed the brave young police officers of their lives. Thoughts and thanks to their brave colleagues who contained and resolved the situation, coming to their stricken comrades aid. It takes something very special to confront violence, and stand guard each day as we ask the Sheepdogs of our society to do. My heart is with all proper Queenslanders who grieve the loss of such a son and daughter today.
