Behind every well-run law firm is someone making sure the numbers add up. For us, that's Tait!

As our Accounts Manager, Tait keeps everything organised behind the scenes, making sure the numbers are in order and the rest of the team can focus on what they do best. She's been keeping us on track since 2021, and we couldn't imagine the place without her.

What you might not know about Tait: she's been a member of the Shoalhaven Ex-servicemen's Fishing Club since childhood and, prior to joining us, served as treasurer for several years. So managing the finances of a busy law firm? Probably not that different, just a little less fishing talk!

Want to settle before Christmas? It sounds simple enough, until you realise that everyone else wants the same thing!

At this time of year, settlement dates start to stack up, banks get increasingly busy, and the window between exchange and Christmas gets increasingly tighter. A contract signed in October with a 60 day settlement lands right in the middle of the silly season, which means getting everyone in the same room, or even on the phone, becomes genuinely difficult.

A man left his entire estate to "my children" in his Will. But this created an expensive problem - because he had no biological children.

He did have three stepchildren whom he had raised as his own for decades. He loved them as his own, he just didn't say so clearly enough in his Will.

When he died, the word "children" had to be interpreted by the court. Evidence of his relationship with his stepchildren was brought in to establish what he actually meant. It was expensive, it was stressful, and it was entirely avoidable.

In blended families especially, the words you use in your Will matter enormously. "My children" doesn't automatically include stepchildren under NSW Law unless it can be proven that was your intention.

You may already know Shenayde the Lawyer, but did you know she's an animal rescuer and endometriosis campaigner?

Outside the office, Shenayde spends her time rescuing and rehabilitating animals in need, and is a passionate and vocal advocate for women's health, particularly around Endometriosis awareness, an issue close to her heart.

This tells you something about who she is, and her clients know she brings the same strength to court.

Based in our Wollongong office, Shenayde works across Litigation, Criminal Law and Employment Law. She was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW in 2025 and has already built experience across the Local, District, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.

We are very proud to have her on our team.
