Last week, Shane from The Hrkac Group attended the Universal Computer Solutions client event at 1915 Restaurant & Bar in Geelong, exploring two important topics for businesses today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity.

With technology continuing to change the way we do business, it was a great opportunity to hear insights into how local businesses can embrace AI, improve productivity and stay informed about cybersecurity risks.

The Hrkac Group team enjoyed a fantastic day out at the RACV Sponsors Golf Day, held at the beautiful RACV Torquay Golf Course! 🏌️‍♂️

We were proud to support the event as a Hole 11 sponsor, with James, Nick and Reef representing Hrkac Group on the course.

💳 ATO CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS EXTENDED UNTIL 30 JUNE 2027!

Good news for Australian businesses! The ATO has reversed its recent decision to stop accepting credit card payments from 30 November 2026, extending the deadline to 30 June 2027.

Following concerns raised by accountants and small business owners, the Federal Government has announced transitional funding to keep this payment option available until the end of the financial year.

✅ What does this mean for you?
✔️ You can continue paying your ATO tax obligations by credit card until 30 June 2027.
✔️ Businesses relying on credit cards to manage cash flow have additional time to plan.
✔️ The ATO will undertake further consultation with small businesses and taxpayers before making longer-term decisions.

While this extension is welcome news, the future of credit card payments beyond June 2027 remains uncertain.

Important update to ATO payments 💳
From 30 November 2026, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will no longer accept credit card payments.
This means individuals and businesses will need to use one of the ATO’s other available payment methods when paying tax obligations.
If you currently rely on a credit card to make ATO payments, now is a good time to review your payment arrangements and make sure you’re prepared for the change.

Card payment surcharges have changed 💳
From 1 October 2026, Australian businesses can no longer add a surcharge when customers pay using Visa, Mastercard, eftpos or American Express credit and debit cards. business.gov.au
Businesses will still incur costs for accepting card payments, however these costs can now be factored into your overall pricing, rather than being added as a separate card surcharge. Reserve Bank of Australia
If your business previously charged card fees, now is the time to make sure you have:
• Removed card surcharges from your payment systems
• Updated any signage, websites, invoices or pricing information referring to card fees
• Reviewed your pricing to account for card processing costs
• Checked with your payment provider to ensure your system is compliant
The changes apply specifically to card payment surcharges, so other legitimate charges such as weekend, public holiday, booking or service fees are not automatically affected. ACCC
