1993. My first property purchase.
$53,000 bought me a knockdown weatherboard in Frederickton, northern NSW.
My first win came before I’d even started building. Instead of paying $7,000 to demolish the old house, I sold it for $5,000.
Somehow they managed to lift the entire house onto a truck and move it without catastrophe — so the old place got another life somewhere else.
With the site cleared and DA approval in place, I built four 3-bedroom townhouses and sold them within two years.
The profit wasn’t substantial, but it was a start. I was in the property market, learning as I went and moving forward.
That first purchase taught me something I still believe today: you don’t have to start with the perfect property or make a huge uplift. You just have to start.
More than 30 years later, I’m still helping people make that move — finding the right opportunity, understanding its potential and having the confidence to act when it comes along.
Everyone starts somewhere!
