💡 : Don’t just name an executor - talk to them first.
Being an executor can involve a lot more than most people realise: dealing with assets and liabilities, communicating with beneficiaries, handling paperwork and, in many cases, applying for probate.
So before putting someone’s name in your Will, ask yourself:
• Are they comfortable taking on the role?
• Are they organised and reliable?
• Will they be able to manage potentially difficult family dynamics?
• Do they know where your important documents are kept?
Choosing an executor shouldn’t simply be about who you’re closest to.
It should be about who is well placed to carry out your wishes when the time comes.
A little conversation now can make things much easier later.
