Duffy Elliott Lawyers Duffy Elliott Lawyers, formerly MJ Duffy & Son Solicitors, has serviced Dubbo and the surrounds for four generations over more than 130 years.

The Firm proudly continues to provide high quality legal services to the western region of New South Wales. MJ Duffy & Son Solicitors founding principle, Michael Joseph Duffy, emigrated from Ireland to Sydney in the 1880’s as a school boy. After completing his legal studies he moved to Cobar NSW where he commenced legal practice in 1894. In about 1920 Michael Joseph Duffy moved his practice to Dub

bo. In 1930 he was joined by his son Thomas Douglas Duffy. Michael Venantius Duffy, a son of Michael Joseph Duffy later joined the firm and he opened a branch in Narromine, which continues to be serviced by the firm today. Michael Joseph Duffy died in 1936 and the practice continued under his sons Thomas and Michael Venantius Duffy. Thomas Douglas Duffy was joined in the Dubbo office by Thomas Michael Duffy in 1956 and Peter Duffy in 1969. In 1988 and 1998 respectively, Robert Duffy and Stephen Duffy, sons of Thomas Michael Duffy joined the practice and are now partners in the firm, the fourth generation of the Duffy family to serve the legal needs of Dubbo and western New South Wales. Peter Duffy retired from the Partnership in June 2011 after 42 years’ service as the Senior Managing Partner of the firm. Robert Duffy retired from the Partnership in June 2017. In addition to the Duffy lineage, Mr Peter Poulton joined the firm in 1973 and retired in 2006 after 33 years’ service as a Partner and Rob Elliott joined the firm in 2012 as a lawyer and became Partner in 2014. In 2016 MJ Duffy & Son Solicitors were re-branded as Duffy Elliott Lawyers. The change reflected the growth of the firm and the addition of Rob Elliott as partner.

Introducing Olivia, Receptionist.

Olivia joined our firm in April 2025 and quickly became the energizer bunny of the office. She brings a bubbly and enthusiastic personality to our front desk 🤗

Previously Olivia worked at a locally owned boutique, developing strong customer service and communication skills that she has been able to hone at DEL.

Olivia enjoys building positive relationships with clients and strives to create a welcoming and supportive first point of contact at the firm. Outside of work, Olivia loves catching up with friends and spending time cooking and baking 👩‍🍳

Introducing Kate, legal assistant.

Kate joined us in July 2025, after previously holding numerous roles within a domestic violence legal unit over 7 years. This gives her a wide range of experience and has enabled her to settle into her new role quickly. She’s loving the change and enjoys continuing to learn and grow in this new environment.
Kate works in our office four days a week. Outside of work, Kate is kept on her toes by her two children. Whenever she gets a quiet moment (few and far between) she loves relaxing with a good thriller book (although we are unsure why, as work is quite thrilling already...)📚✨
We're delighted that Kate has joined the DEL team and look forward to seeing where her career will take her! 😊
