On 26 May, Rebecca hosted a workshop on skilled migration for regional employers in Swan Hill, as part of the May Means Business initiative from
There, Rebecca connected with local business owners and managers to hear about workforce and operational challenges regional businesses continue to face, such as how regional areas still feel disconnected from migration programs despite how these pathways can practically support their long-term workforce needs.
These communities are resilient, innovative and hardworking, yet they often don’t have the same access to information, support or opportunities as larger metropolitan areas.
This experience was especially meaningful for Rebecca, being born and raised in Swan Hill. She was proud of being able to return home and contribute to her community.
Thank you to Swan Hill Inc for this opportunity, because it only illuminates the need for practical, ethical and accessible migration support in regional Australia.
