Not having a will doesn't mean nothing happens. It means the law decides.

When someone dies without a valid will, the estate is distributed under the rules of intestacy. Queensland and New South Wales each have their own rules and neither follows what the person might have intended.

In practice, that often means delay, added cost and decisions made by a formula rather than by the family.

A current, valid will is the simplest way to set out your own intentions - including who administers the estate.
