Bushfire season is approaching - is your property ready? 🔥

If you are unable to comply with one or more requirements of the Shire of Murray Bushfire Compliance Notice, you must apply for a firebreak variation by 1 November 2026.

Don’t leave it too late! Rangers will commence firebreak inspections from 1 December 2026, with properties inspected for fire hazards and to ensure compliance.

Remember: A firebreak variation is not an exemption - it's an opportunity to propose alternative methods of meeting fire prevention requirements. Natural features like rocky outcrops or watercourses, or existing landscaping such as reticulated gardens, lawns or driveways may be considered as an alternative to a firebreak.

Support is available in two ways:

📒 Our free Security Appraisals provide tailored security advice and up to $850 worth of security equipment.

🔒 Our Security Rebate provides up to $500 funding to help cover the cost of purchasing and installing eligible security equipment.

Environmental and waste services receive $40.5 million. This includes tree planting, sustainability rebates, waste and recycling services and the new Canning Response Crew, a dedicated team tackling graffiti, illegal dumping and maintenance issues in public spaces.

"Our community wants a clean, green and well-maintained city," Mayor Hall said. "The Canning Response Crew will help us respond faster while our investment in trees, waste services and sustainability programs helps protect the environment."
