Can I just use an online Will kit?
Honest answer: sometimes yes. Often no. Here's the difference. π
An online Will kit can work if:
β Your situation is very straightforward
β You have no children, blended family, or significant assets
β You understand exactly how to execute it correctly (signatures, witnesses)
Where it typically falls short:
β No tailored legal advice specific to you
β No advice on whether a Testamentary Trust would benefit your family
β No guidance on super nominations (which sit outside your Will entirely)
β No protection if the document is executed incorrectly or lacks essential components β and invalid Wills are more common than you'd think
β Online kits donβt address complex situations
β No professional review of your specific circumstances or of whether your assets will actually get captured by your will
While online will kits may seem cost effective, the potential legal issues and disputes can far outweigh any savings and may leave loved ones left to clean up matters that are more complex than they needed to be.
Our Wills start from a fixed fee. And what you get is a solicitor who actually takes the time to understand your family's situation and assists you to put what you in place.
