Just like you'd lean on a broker or accountant, your conveyancer should be part of your property team. Having someone you trust in your corner early in your search means you can:

▪️Have Contracts and Form 1s reviewed before you commit
▪️Spot red flags, hidden costs and special conditions early
▪️ Know exactly who to call when you have questions

From 1 July 2026, conveyancers will be required to comply with new obligations under Australia's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) laws.

What does this mean for clients buying or selling property?

For more than 10 years, conveyancers have been verifying client identities as part of the conveyancing process. Under the new requirements, we will also need to collect some additional information at the time of engagement, including:

✔️ Source of funds for the transaction (e.g. bank finance, savings)
✔️ Occupation details
✔️ Purpose and nature of the transaction

These checks are mandatory for all clients.

We have been working behind the scenes to implement streamlined processes so that we can continue to provide a smooth and efficient conveyancing experience while meeting the new compliance requirements.
