Since June last year, the Albanese Labor Government has processed 4 million visas. And we've brought the visa backlog down to below 600,000.

Please be aware of a number of scammers pretending to be AFP representatives attempting to defraud and exploit the public. These calls and emails are fake.

The AFP has one report of an elderly woman depositing over $16,000 into a scam bank account after receiving a scam call.

Our switchboard operators have received hundreds of calls in the past couple of months from people across Australia who say they have received calls from individuals claiming to be employed by the AFP. They are not.

Scammers falsely identify themselves as a Federal Agent, with a fake badge number and warn victims that they have suspicious activity linked to their bank account. They then request personal details including a person’s Medicare number, address and bank details.

Scammers are also targeting people online via email and social media with fake arrest warrants. The scammers then calling their victim and demand money be deposited into a bank account.

The AFP will never call, email or contact you via social media to threaten your arrest, request you to transfer money or ask for your personal details.

These scammers are exploiting vulnerable people. Stay Vigilant. Scammers WILL continue to try and take advantage of anyone and everyone.
