🤠 FUN FACT FRIDAY!

Our Legal Administration Assistant, Charlotte might spend her weekdays in the office, but come Friday afternoon, she’s usually heading straight back to her country roots!

A true country gal at heart, Charlotte heads home to see her family and soak up some country life just about every weekend. When she’s not keeping us organised behind the scenes or studying law, Charlotte is always up for a challenge - whether she’s hitting the slopes on a snowboard, getting into horse riding, playing rugby league (including representing the ACT at Nationals!), or aspiring to become a CrossFit pro! 🏂🐴🏉💪

We love having Charlotte's down-to-earth, adventurous spirit and willingness to give anything a go as part of our Fulcrum team!

Meet Tanisha! 👋

Introducing our newest member of the team, Tanisha, our Office Administration Assistant.

Tanisha brings a proactive, team-focused approach and is always willing to lend a hand wherever needed, helping to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. And when she’s not at Fulcrum, you’ll most definitely find her on the ice as a figure skating coach and professional performer!

Welcome Tanisha 🎉

🚫 Myth Buster Monday 🚫

No wedding does not mean no legal rights.

In Australia, many people in de facto relationships may have rights and obligations similar to those of married couples when their relationship ends. Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

📌 division of property, assets and debts;
📌 superannuation splitting; and
📌 spousal maintenance.

Parenting arrangements and child support may also need to be addressed after separation, regardless of whether the parents were married or in a de facto relationship.

Whether a relationship is legally recognised as de facto depends on several factors (not simply whether the couple lived together for two years).

Time limits may apply to claims following separation - another reason why it is important to obtain advice early.

Family law is rarely just about the law.

It’s about people making big decisions at difficult points in their lives.

The best advice isn’t always the advice that wins the argument. Sometimes, it’s the advice that helps someone see the bigger picture, make a considered decision, and move forward with confidence.

That takes technical expertise.
It takes strategy.
And it takes genuinely understanding the person sitting across the table.

That’s the work we love.

Fulcrum Family Law — raising the bar for our clients, our people and our profession.

🌟 FUN FACT FRIDAY! 🌟

Meet Natasha – our resident adventurer! 🌏🤿🎿🏐

When Natasha isn’t busy at Fulcrum Family Law, you’ll often find her doing something that involves a little adventure, a challenge and probably a good story to tell afterwards!

🏐 She’s played competitive netball, so she knows a thing or two about teamwork, determination and a bit of healthy competition.
🤿 She’s completed an open water scuba diving course – because apparently exploring the world above sea level just isn’t enough!
✈️ She’s travelled to numerous places around the world, with a few firm favourites of hers being Spain, Nepal, Peru and Canada.
🎿 And yes… she can ski too! ⛷️

It’s safe to say Natasha has an adventurous spirit and isn’t afraid to give something new a go. We love having a little bit of that adventurous energy here at Fulcrum!

🚫 Myth Buster Monday 🚫

Disputes can often be resolved through negotiation, mediation, conciliation or other forms of alternative dispute resolution. These processes may help the parties identify practical solutions, retain greater control over the outcome, and avoid the time, cost and stress associated with litigation.

Court intervention may still be necessary where there are urgent issues, safety concerns or where genuine attempts to resolve the dispute have been unsuccessful.

Every matter is different - but reaching an impasse does not automatically mean that going to Court is the next or only step.
