One week ago, students joined the ANU International Law Society and ANU Law Students’ Society for an evening of Space Law.

It was great to hear from the panelists and their different specialised knowledge and backgrounds; whether that was in discussing career prospects, book recommendations, movies, or developments in the field.

We hope both the panelists and audience walked out with an enriching experience in Space Law!

ELIGIBILITY FOR NOMINATIONS:
- Current ANU student, enrolled in any degree program (LLB or JD preferable, but not mandatory) at any level (domestic and international students are both eligible), with a full-year enrolment remaining until November 2027.
- Not be, or intending to be, on the senior executive (President, Vice President, Treasurer or Secretary) of any other *LAW* society at the ANU or anywhere else in Australia/overseas in 2027. Being on the senior executive of any non-law society is acceptable.

ELECTIONS TIMELINE*:
- Notice of Elections and Call for Nominations: Monday 28 September 2026.
- Nominations Period: Monday 28 September to Monday 12 October 2026.
- Polling Period: 9am, Tuesday 13 October 2026 to 11.59pm, Thursday 15 October 2026.
- Vote counting and processing: Friday 16 October 2026.
- Election Results Announcement: Sunday 18 October
- 2027 Committee Commences Term: 1 November 2026
- 2026 Committee steps down, but will finish any outgoing responsibilities during the transition period: 1 November 2026
- Transition Period: 1 November 2026 – 31 December 2026

Exciting opportunity to express your interest in undertaking a law program in collaboration with students of Sophia University (Japan)!

The program will be an intensive 5-day in-person program by the College of Law, Governance, and Public Policy hosting Sophia University law students and ANU law students collaborating on a specified topic. It is likely to be held in late February 2027 on the ANU campus. It will focus on a thematic topic of international law and artificial intelligence, with the goal of producing a collective research brief co-authored by all students. The program is not for course credit. The purpose of the program is to allow students from both universities the opportunity for direct cross-cultural engagement, mutual experiential learning, and shared practices.

Middle Powers in a World of Giants panel: A Japanese and Australian perspective 🇯🇵🇦🇺

The discussion covered a range of global issues and career opportunities. It also engaged in looking towards the future of a Japanese-Australia partnership and the way both countries can influence international relations.
