⚡️2025 VOLUME 6(1) - SPECIAL ISSUE⚡️

We’re proud to have recently published the first installment of the sixth volume of JOLT. Delve into the latest on AI in Australian legal education and practice.

This issue features three groundbreaking articles…

✨The first article, The Dignity of Legal Education vs Artificial Intelligence in Australian Law Schools by Dr Raul Madden provides a philosophical interrogation of the tension between the moral purposes law schools have traditionally served, the financial realities they face, and the challenges and opportunities posed by generative AI.

✨The second article, The Evolution of Legal Knowledge Work in an Age of Brilliant(?) Technologies: From Robo-Lawyer to Digital Law Clerk by Professors Julian Webb and Jeannie Paterson, develops a groundbreaking novel taxonomy of archetypes in the legal profession which allow for analysis of emergent patterns of AI applications and their impacts.

✨The third article, The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Duty and Standard of Care in Legal Practice: A ‘Disrupting Moment’ for Laws that Protect Consumers from Economic Harm by Dr Catherine Brown OAM, Professor Sharon Christensen, Dr Brydon Wang, Associate Professor Amanda Stickley, Trent Candy, and Dr Rouhshi Low illuminates the limitations of current liability frameworks through employing an AI autonomy–human cognitive input spectrum.
