Is your business ready for a potential financial crisis?

Every business faces the possibility of a crisis at some point. Whether it's a natural disaster, an economic downturn, or simply an unexpected significant expense, a crisis can threaten the stability of even the most well-run business. That's why it's important to have access to financial resources that can help weather the storm. Businesses may choose to build up cash reserves to cover unexpected costs, or they may be able to access lines of credit or other financial resources that can be used in times of need. Having a plan in place to manage a crisis can help ensure that your business remains afloat during difficult times.

At Beacon Advisory, we specialise in helping businesses navigate through financial crises and emerge stronger on the other side. The retail environment is increasingly challenging, and insolvencies are unfortunately becoming more common. It's important to take measures to protect yourself if you're doing business with a company that might be insolvent.

Some steps you can take include taking security over inventory and stock, engaging with your debtors to understand their circumstances, and being aware of the risks of payment arrangements.

Getting well-thought-out advice from professionals is crucial in navigating these challenges.

Business resilience has become an increasingly important concept in recent years as the business environment has become more complex and uncertain.

A resilient business is able to quickly adapt to market changes, new technology, and other disruptions.

It is also able to bounce back from setbacks, such as a natural disaster or a financial crisis.

Building business resilience requires a strategic approach that encompasses all aspects of the organisation, from it operations to its culture.

At Beacon Advisory we can help you identify areas where your company needs improvement and give you actionable steps to make your business more resilient.

At Beacon Advisory, we often remind people that liquidation doesn’t have to be the end of the road — in fact, it can be the start of something better.

In this video, Tony shares a powerful truth:
Sometimes, it’s not about saving the company — it’s about rebuilding the individual behind it.
⚠️ We see it time and again — directors overwhelmed, burned out, and struggling to give their all to a restructure. In those cases, pressing pause through liquidation can bring clarity, simplicity, and the freedom to begin again.
đź’¬ Have you seen a liquidation lead to a personal or professional rebirth?
Or maybe you’re wondering whether it’s time to let go?
👇 Share your thoughts — we’d love to hear your perspective.

Businesses need funding to get off the ground and grow. At various times those needs change and funds may be required at short notice, particularly when your business encounters the unexpected. There are several options available when it comes to business funding. If you have a good relationship with your bank, this can be a great advantage when funding is required at short notice. Your bank may be more likely to approve a loan for your business if you have a good relationship with them and when they understand your business well. When you work closely with a bank, and build a relationship with key account managers, there is a greater possibility that they will ride the waves of business life with you. This may also include events such as accommodating short term repayment pauses on existing facilities and working with professionals when the time comes to restructure your business affairs.

Where those bank/business relationships are healthy and you need to restructure your business, we can help. We are experts at maximising the relationship value between you and your bank in order to assist you when funding decisions arise. Reach out to us today.

In addition to potential health and wellness issues, excessive hours can also have detrimental effects on the value of your company. We hear you when you say, "well, that's OK for you, but the work has to get done, and that's up to me!" I also understand and share your perspective and passion - but there are costs to doing long extra hours that affect you and your business.

Here's what we're talking about:

When you throw yourself into your work without taking breaks, you risk both physical and mental exhaustion, resulting in poor decision-making and decreased productivity. That can lead to a reduction in motivation and an increase in overwhelm. It can also lead to increased stress for your employees when your decision-making becomes vague or contradictory, causing them to feel frustrated and under appreciated. This can affect morale and lead to a drop in performance which could have disastrous consequences for output.

Regular and unmanaged longer hours can also lead to a deterioration in family and personal relationships, meaning the very place where you look for stability and support suddenly becomes less stable and less supportive as a result of the mental and emotional impacts that long hours on the tools drives.

Taking care of yourself is a priority when it comes to preserving the success of your business. Being mindful of your own work/life balance will enable you to make more informed decisions, boost morale, and ensure a healthier and more sustainable workplace.

Too much company debt, especially expensive debt, can be a drag on earnings and ultimately lead to deterioration of a business.

Ways to reduce company debt include paying off high-interest debt first, negotiating better terms with creditors, and refinancing at lower rates when possible.

For more tips on reducing your business' debt burden, watch today's video by Tony Lane.
