Most engineers spend weeks writing their CDR.
Then Engineers Australia rejects it.
Not because their engineering is weak.
Not because their English is poor.
Because they wrote about what they did
instead of what they demonstrated.
That is the difference nobody tells you about.
Engineers Australia does not read your CDR as a work history.
They read it as evidence against 3 specific competency elements:
โ PE1 โ your engineering knowledge and skill base
โ PE2 โ your ability to apply that knowledge to real problems
โ PE3 โ your professional values, ethics, and judgment
Every paragraph in every career episode is measured against these.
If your writing describes tasks and responsibilities even clearly, even in perfect English it will not score well.
EA wants to see your thinking.
The decision you made when two technical options existed.
The moment you identified a problem others had missed.
The outcome you influenced and what you learned from it.
That is what a career episode is actually for.
Most engineers only learn this after their first rejection.
By then, they have already waited 3โ4 months for an outcome.
Already paid the assessment fee.
Already delayed their PR timeline by months they cannot get back.
If you are preparing your CDR โ or planning to โ follow along.
