UP TO DATE: From June 10, there’ll be changes to the way property settlements for separating couples are handled by the Court. Amendments to the law will allow courts to consider family violence, including economic or financial abuse, when determining the division of property, change how ownership of family pets is decided, and give courts the discretion to use a less adversarial approach in directing proceedings.
