In NSW, this type of protection is generally called an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO).

An ADVO can include conditions designed to protect someone from violence, threats, intimidation, harassment or stalking by a current or former partner, family member or another person with whom they have had a domestic relationship.

Family violence orders may also affect parenting arrangements and other family-law proceedings. Every situation is different, so obtaining legal advice early is important.
