A question we often hear is:

“Do grandparents have rights to see their grandchildren?”

Australian family law recognises the important role grandparents can play in a child’s life.

While grandparents don’t have an automatic right to spend time with their grandchildren, they may be able to apply for parenting orders where appropriate.

As with all parenting matters, the Court’s primary consideration is what is in the child’s best interests.
