⚖️ Aspiring law students get a front-row seat to the courts

Year 10 St Augustine's College students - Ruben, Nathon, and Isaac - explored different corners of the legal system during their work experience, coordinated by VPG. Ruben shadowed His Honour Judge Dean Morzone KC, Isaac worked with the Supreme and District Courts registry team, and Nathon gained on-the-job experience at Devenish Law.

A highlight came when all three joined a courtroom session, seeing a trial in action, followed by a awesome opportunity to connect with Judge Morzone and learn about his journey to becoming a judge.

Devenish Law warmly congratulates Judge Kahler on his recent appointment to the District Court in Townsville. Judge Kahler has been a staunch advocate for regional legal practitioners during his time as a solicitor. Combining outstanding legal acumen with many years of community service we are certain Judge Kahler will be an asset to the judiciary. Congratulations Judge Kahler from the team at Devenish Law.

Queensland Law Society President Genevieve Dee has welcomed the appointment of Christopher Kahler from the solicitors' branch of the legal profession to the Townsville District Court.

“On behalf of QLS’s more than 12,000 members, I congratulate Councillor Chris Kahler on his well-deserved appointment to the District Court in Townsville," President Dee said.

"QLS has consistently advocated for the appointment of solicitors with considerable experience to the courts as well as improved court resourcing.

"With a family history in Far North Queensland spanning four generations and his long history practising in rural and regional areas, Councillor Kahler understands these communities well.

“He has also given back to the legal profession, particularly in his time as a Queensland Law Society Councillor, ensuring that regional and remote lawyers are effectively represented at the highest level.”

"We applaud the appointment the Attorney-General, Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity Deb Frecklington MP has made to strengthen the North Queensland region’s access to justice.”
