Today is Global Surveyors Day! It is a day to recognise the surveyors who have shaped, measured and mapped our history as well as recognise the surveyors today whose work continues to be the foundation of communities throughout the world. In Queensland every development from land subdivisions to construction to mining involves surveyors. When you need accuracy and certainty you need a surveyor 🙂 👍A shout out to my fellow surveyors.

Registered Cadastral Surveyors are legally permitted to enter land to carry out a survey or place survey marks under the Survey and Mapping Infrastructure Act 2003. Surveying is a profession where we are subject to the elements. In FNQ it is currently the wet season and electronic surveying equipment in hot, humid and rainy environments is not always compatible. We also need line of sight to take measurements for most jobs which can be problematic in tropical rain. So while we love the outdoors (it's part of the job!) the wet season can certainly add challenges, especially rain coupled with king tides in Cairns.

Here is FNQ there are some beautiful spots to call 'the office'. As a small business it can be challenging to maintain all aspects of a business. Previously we built and maintained our own website but we just do not have time to continue to do this.....our website is currently being redeveloped - hopefully it transitions seamlessly over the next few days 🤞😀

Surveyors still post letters! You may not realise but surveyors have a legal obligation to notify all interested parties that may be affected by a boundary reinstatement. This is often a letter advising of infrastructure that may be on, near, or in some circumstances, over the boundary.
