Important Update for Our Clients – New AML/CTF Requirements Coming Soon ✅

From 1 July 2026, settlement agents (like us) will be required to comply with new national Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) laws regulated by AUSTRAC. This is part of the Australian Government’s Tranche 2 reforms affecting the property sector.

Why the changes?
These laws help protect Australia’s property market from being exploited by serious crime, money laundering, and terrorism financing. Similar rules already apply to banks and financial institutions now they’re being extended to conveyancers, real estate agents, lawyers, and others involved in property transactions.

What does this mean for you?
To comply, we’ll need to ask a few extra questions during your initial appointment and complete the verification of ID checks at the start of the transaction. This is standard Customer Due Diligence (similar to what you already do with banks) and includes things like:
• Confirming your identity and verifying documents
• Understanding the purpose of the transaction
• Details about source of funds (e.g. savings, loan, sale of another property)
• Beneficial ownership information (especially if companies or trusts are involved)

This is a normal part of doing business in 2026 and helps ensure your transaction proceeds smoothly and compliantly.

That’s why we offer mobile appointments to assist with:
✔️ Verification of Identity (VOI)
✔️ Signing settlement documents

If you or a loved one are in a hospital, nursing home, or aged care facility, we’re happy to come out and help ensure everything is completed properly and with care.

Property transactions don’t stop when life becomes difficult and we’re here to make the process as easy and stress-free as possible for families.
