From 𝟮 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, most temporary visa holders in Australia will no longer be able to lodge a Student Visa (subclass 500) or Student Guardian Visa (subclass 590) application while in Australia.
This also affects current Student Visa holders who want to apply for another Student Visa, UNLESS THEY MEET AN EXEMPTION.
This includes people who are currently in Australia as a Student Visa dependant and want to apply for a Student Visa as the primary applicant.
What does this mean?
If you are affected by the new rule, you will generally need to:
Be outside Australia when you lodge your Student Visa application, AND
Remain outside Australia when the visa is granted.
Your current Student Visa is not cancelled or affected simply because of these changes.
Before you enrol, travel or change your course:
Make sure you understand whether you can apply for your next Student Visa onshore or offshore.
