Attention South-East Queensland,

As Cyclone Alfred prepares to make landfall we would like to remind everyone a key consideration for anyone currently undertaking a contract to purchase a free-standing home in Queensland.

Under Standard Condition 8.1 of the REIQ Contract (which is the standard contract in Queensland) the Property that is the subject of the Contract is at the Buyer’s risk from 5:00pm on the first Business Day after the Contract Date.

Our property team advise our clients to take-out insurance on the properties they are purchasing as soon as practicable after receiving a fully-signed Contract.

If you have recently or intend to enter a contract to purchase a home, please consider whether you have adequate insurance in place.

We otherwise encourage you and your family to stay safe during this unpredictable weather event.
