It's important to take stock and count the blessings as and when they come from time to time.

With that in mind, it was particularly satisfying to achieve an outcome for our client who was the named Respondent in protracted domestic violence proceedings commenced by the Police which, through persistence and hard work in drafting compelling evidence on behalf of our client, eventuated in the withdrawal of the Police-led Application just 3 days before the listed Trial.

We continue to serve our family law clients well.

For example, we successfully achieved final resolution of an international relocation parenting matter within 3 months from the commencement of our retainer until the issue of sealed final parenting consent orders from Division 1 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia earlier this morning.

Reflections from a family lawyer:

"Today marks my 18th year since my admission as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Queensland.

Has it been a "easy" journey? By no means (particularly in Family Law, which is stressful and clients are coming to you during their most stressful periods of their lives upon the breakdown of their relationship).

Do I know "everything?" By no means. I am still learning.

What I have learnt along this journey is that life as a lawyer is indeed a "calling."

It is a long-standing and noble profession of which the responsibilities and duties of being a "good" lawyer, as an officer of the Court, can never be forgotten or forsaken when acting for a client.

It requires daily hard work, determination and discipline.

It also requires appreciating the fact that you can only "control the controllables."

Despite best endeavours, a lawyer does not have the "magic wand."

However, a good lawyer, through daily hard work, determination and discipline, is equipped with the legal knowledge and skills to provide advice and expertise to solve legal issues for the client to move forward.

Do I look forward to another 18 years? God-willing, yes.

But for now, it's timely to just "take stock" and count my blessings for the wonderful privilege to serve as a lawyer in the legal profession."

Wishing the Indian Diaspora in Australia a very Happy Indian Independence Day🇮🇳

As a first generation Australian Indian, there are so many emotions felt by all of us today but I find myself particularly reflecting on my own family’s contribution and service to community. I am particularly proud of my mother Mrs Archana Singh, the Hon Consul for India in Queensland and how she had led our community with immense grace and an unparalleled spirit of service. She has led our community to a point where QLD, of all Australian states and territories, will be Australia’s largest trade partner moving forwards.

Today is also an opportunity to celebrate our diversity as a community whilst standing united as one Indian Diaspora family.

At present, the India Australia bilateral relationship is gaining very strong momentum on its upward trajectory!

On December 29, 2022, the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement ( ), which was signed on April 2, 2022, entered into force. Over the next five years, it is anticipated that the India-Australia ECTA, which aims to improve trade and investment opportunities between the two nations, will propel bilateral trade to US$50 billion Australia trade to cross US$45-50 billion from the existing US$31 billion.

When two nations with shared values and a shared vision walk along a common path to deal with many of the world's existential issues, the energy and vigour that it generates is bound to impact the two countries in all facets of society.

In what is a very exciting time for this bilateral relationship, I am excited to play my part and continue to contribute to its success in the coming years.
