Australian migration legislation is complex. If you are planning to migrate, it is important to seek proper advice before making any decisions. Our senior Registered Migration Agent, Rosemary Acutt, recently spoke to a reporter with SBS about a case involving a 12-year-old child who is risking deportation over an adoption issue in circumstances where the parents purported to adopt a child from overseas without first taking legal advice. The resulting complications in trying to obtain a visa for the child in the absence of a valid overseas adoption have been heartbreaking for the family and child involved. It pays to seek advice from a professional before making important life decisions. If you need a visa, we can help.

Allysha was informally adopted from The Philippines when she was born. Now, at 12 years of age, she risks deportation when her student visa expires next month.

We stepped back into the office this week and were welcomed by this! We’re thrilled to be a part of every client’s migration journey and look forward to making more dreams come true in 2020.

“Thank you for helping us to achieve this milestone in our journey. Your guidance helped us a lot. I am so thankful for all your efforts you have put in our case although chances were less but (you) made it happen. I am so grateful. Please accept a small token of gratitude.

To the best migration consultant - Rosemary. Thank you for everything.”

It is always reason to celebrate when one of our clients has their visa granted, but today we are celebrating an extra special visa. This particular client (we shall call her Joanna) started her migration journey in 2014. Having invested almost $15,000 in her permanent Australian visa, the visa was refused because of administrative errors made by her legal representative at that time. Having approached our office, we devised a strategy to rectify her legal status. With proper advice and representation through Queensland Migration Practice, our client today celebrates the grant of her temporary visa, which will lead to a permanent Australian visa in October. Congratulations Joanna, you are a welcome addition to the Australian community and we couldn’t be happier for you!

As we approach the end of the year, we take time to reflect on the months that have passed by. Queensland Migration Practice has experienced extraordinary growth these last three years. From a humble team of two lawyers, to a thriving office of five staff members (four of whom are lawyers, and one who will be admitted as a lawyer on Monday!). Why are we growing so fast?

Because we care.

Because we are good at what we do.

Because we are not afraid to fight for a fair outcome.

And because we hope that one day we can retire to the Bahamas with a big bottle of wine…
