The changes would mean a tenant would still have to seek consent for a pet, but the lessor would no longer just be allowed to refuse and could not advertise properties with a no-pet caveat.

Come October 1, even in places with existing tenancy agreements, a tenant will be allowed to ask and a lessor will be required to respond.

The Termination of Pregnancy Act 2018 ensures termination of pregnancy is treated as a health issue rather than a criminal issue. The Act:
-supports a woman's right to health, including reproductive health and autonomy
-provides clarity and safety for health practitioners providing terminations of pregnancy
-brings Queensland legislation in line with other Australian jurisdictions.
Termination of pregnancy in Australia is very common. Up to one in three Australian women will choose to have a termination in their lifetime.

1. Ring the Queensland Police Service on 000 if you think that your child is at an immediate risk of harm.
2. Ring the courts’ after-hour service on 1300 352 000 and ask for an urgent Family Law Watchlist order. This should only be used in emergencies such as when an urgent order is required when there is risk of a child being removed before the next working day.
3. Ring the Australian Federal Police on (02) 6126 7777 immediately to inform them that you are applying for a Family Law Watchlist order, or email them on AOCC- [email protected].
4. To obtain a Family Law Watchlist order, make an urgent appointment with a lawyer or attend at the Brisbane Family Law courts to see a duty lawyer. PRIOR to your appointment, make sure to complete a Family Law Watchlist Request form and bring that to your appointment with the lawyer.
5. If your child does not have an Australian passport or other travel document, you may be able to prevent one from being issued by completing a Child Alert Request form (PC9).
You can obtain a form by phoning the Australian Passport Information Service on 131 232 or by visiting a passport office. This will not stop your child from travelling if they already have a valid Australian passport or other travel document.

Police are allowed to ask you for your licence if they pull you over for a legal reason, such as to do a random breath alcohol or drug test, or to enforce transport or drug laws.
Police are allowed to carry out a roadside alcohol breath test (commonly called a random breath test) or a drug saliva test, and can also require that you go to a police station for a blood test.
Apart from giving your name and address, and showing your licence, you can refuse to answer other questions. If police ask to search your vehicle, immediately seek legal advice. Refuse consent to the search but avoid engaging in physical resistance against police.

Coercive control is the most common factor leading up to intimate partner homicide. By the end of next year, we will introduce legislation to criminalise it.
The overhaul of laws and practices to better protect Queensland women from domestic and family violence and hold perpetrators to account also includes:
◽️ New laws and programs to recognise and prevent coercive control including making coercive control a criminal offence
◽️ A Commission of Inquiry into police responses to domestic and family violence
◽️ Expansion of the Domestic and Family Violence courts
◽️ Better support for women
◽️ A special strategy for First Nations communities
◽️ Funding for perpetrator programs to change men’s behaviour and stop the cycle of violence
◽️ Expansion of High-Risk Teams and co-responder models to ensure victims receive a joint response from police and domestic and family violence services
◽️ Increased respectful relationships education to all Queensland children and young people
