More than 170 representatives from Queensland councils turned out on 28 May in Brisbane for this year’s LGMA Awards for Excellence at the State Library of Queensland. As proud sponsors of this important LGMA event, which acknowledges and celebrates the outstanding work being undertaken by local governments across Queensland, King & Company’s Michael Cerruto and Kody Scott presented trophies to two of the winners . Michael presented the Innovation award won by the Burdekin Shire Council for its Macroalgal Facility while Kody presented the Innovation award won by Cook Shire Council for its Community Powered Resilience project. With no one from the far-flung Shire able to attend, Kody also accepted the award on behalf of the project team.

As part of National Reconciliation Week 2026, King & Company were delighted to host a screening of the Nunga Screen short-film festival, with our very own ‘NRW Cinema Snack Bar’ stocked with refreshing beverages and delicious treats sourced from various First Nation businesses.

As the 2026 NRW theme “All In” reminds us, reconciliation doesn’t sit on the sidelines, it grows through the meaningful conversations we have and the stories and perspectives we make space for. Nunga Screen was an insightful and engaging way to listen and share in some of those powerful stories of history, healing, belonging, community and connection to country, from both new and emerging First Nations filmmakers, as they celebrate First Nations’ culture and language through film.

Reconciliation is an ongoing process, but National Reconciliation Week provides a poignant moment of reflection, and an important reminder to stay “All In” together to keep the reconciliation journey moving forward.
