It wasn’t until I recently found myself calming the manager of a major shopping center whose stress levels were sky rocketing, that I realised the effect this pandemic is having on people’s mental health and state. If that was not enough to worry me, I had a local nurse thank me for not abusing her due to their delay in appointment times.

In the article below, we will discuss waivers and if they are enforceable.

Most people are familiar with the concept of waivers, which are required before participating in risky activities, entering an amusement park, or using public

An official press release from the Queensland government issued yesterday announced the state was taking a historic step to address the finding that coercive control is one of the most common factors occurring in the period prior to intimate partner homicide. By the end of 2023, the government will introduce a landmark bill making coercive control a criminal offence.

While reducing speed is an important part of driving safely in wet conditions, there are several other considerations motorists must be aware of when driving in the rain.

Here are a few tips to remember.

🔸Check your car’s equipment - Check your headlights, tail lights, and windshield wipers to ensure that they work efficiently. Check your tread and tyre pressure. Your tyres are your best friend in wet weather driving, providing traction and keeping you steady on the road.

🔸Slow down - Reduced speed is imperative in rainy weather. Your vehicle’s reaction time is much slower when it is raining, so you should drive considerably slower than you usually would.

🔸Never use cruise control in wet conditions - Using cruise control during wet weather can cause you to lose control of your vehicle. A driver must remain fully engaged during wet weather driving, so cruise control should be avoided.

🔸Turn your lights on - Turning on your vehicle’s headlights will increase your visibility and other drivers’ ability to see your car on the road.

🔸Brake cautiously - Take special care to avoid hard braking. Slow down, give others room, and take your foot off the accelerator fast enough so that you won’t have to slam on the brakes.

🔸Pull over if it’s heavy rain- If you can’t see cars in front of you or are having difficulty controlling your vehicle, pull over and wait for the rain to slow down.

Even when being cautious, accidents can happen. If you are involved in an accident on the road it is important to know your rights. Call us today on 1300 695 299.
