Across family, workplace, and community settings, people in conflict often feel stuck between fighting it out or giving up. Traditional, legalistic approaches can leave them disempowered—especially when ongoing relationships are at stake.

That’s why we’ve built something different: a collaborative, client-centered collective of independent dispute resolution professionals across Queensland.

Our members include:

Family dispute resolution practitioners

Child-informed mediators

Counsellors and therapists

Restorative justice practitioners

Co-parenting support and reunification specialists

General mediators handling workplace and community matters

We work independently—but we align around shared values: client dignity, respectful communication, trauma-informed practice, and ethical collaboration.

Our model is simple but powerful:
✅ Clients are supported holistically.
✅ Practitioners refer seamlessly within the collective.
✅ Support is tailored—not templated.
✅ Outcomes are co-created—not imposed.

We’ve seen the real-world impact:
👨‍👩‍👧 A separating couple reaching parenting agreements after parallel support with a therapist.
👦 A child’s voice included in mediation, reshaping a family’s path forward.
🏘️ Neighbours, repairing harm through restorative dialogue, not litigation.

The future of dispute resolution is interdisciplinary and relational. And we’re proud to be part of a movement that centres people—not process.

💬 If you’re a professional working with families or communities, we welcome collaboration and referrals.
💡 If you or someone you know is navigating conflict, reach out for a confidential discussion.

Communication is the most essential determinative factor in a successful relationship and co-parenting relationship after separation. In family dispute resolution it is the number one agenda item in mediation.

Recent Review
Thank you for trusting Resolution Journey to guide you. Another wonderful family and I am so fortunate to be able to assist them in this difficult time. Divorce and Separation has such an emotional impact for parents and children.

I would highly recommend Resolution Journey to anyone seeking parenting or financial mediation services. Janine is very compassionate and genuinely cared about the outcome of our discussions, particularly when it came to our child's needs. It was clear she is highly professional, experienced and knowledgeable in both the legal and dispute resolution aspects of mediation. Janine is also a kind and understanding person, which makes a big difference when dealing with something so emotional. I can't thank her enough for all she has done to help my family during this very difficult time. M.

Introducing Maryann Hearn.

Resolution Journey Pathways, is a specialist restorative justice and mediation service, offering court-referred restorative justice processes for adult participants involved in criminal and civil conflict.

Our Restorative Justice Mediation Service provides a structured and trauma-informed process that enables direct or indirect communication between an offender and the person(s) harmed, with the aim of acknowledging harm, restoring dignity, and promoting healing.

We offer this service exclusively for adult matters—and only where parties are willing, emotionally prepared, and assessed as suitable for participation. Our practice is underpinned by national restorative justice principles, and all facilitators are qualified professionals with experience in complex interpersonal and justice-based conflict.

We have very experienced Mediators, Psychologists, Counsellors, Child Inclusive Mediators, Reunification Specialists, Social Worker and AMDRAS and FDRP mediators working collaboratively to achieve successful outcomes and follow up services to ensure supports are accessible and in place so that parties can continue to achieve positive outcomes. I would like to introduce you to our Restorative Justice Mediator, Maryann Hearn.

Maryann has 22 years of experience in conducting Restorative Justice processes for the Queensland Government, specialising in referrals from court and police for sexual offences and other serious personal harm offenses.

Maryann has managed Restorative Justice processes for adult offenders’ pre-charge, pre-court, and post-sentence, as well as for survivors of sexual abuse under the Queensland redress scheme into institutional abuse.

Additionally, she has co-facilitated a course on practical skills for facilitating restorative justice processes in the subject ‘Restorative justice practices’ at Griffith University School of Criminology and Criminal Justice CUCCJ.

Maryann believes that a successful restorative justice process requires effective screening and preparation of participants, ensuring adherence to the principle of 'no further harm' in all approaches.

Our Process

Referral received – from court, legal representatives, or agencies
Initial contact – with both parties to determine willingness and obtain consent
Suitability assessment – including risk screening, emotional readiness, and safety planning
Preparation phase – extensive pre-conference work with each party to explore needs and expectations
Restorative conference/mediation – in person, online, or through shuttle communication, based on the situation
Outcome agreement – if appropriate, including acknowledgement, actions to repair harm, or follow-up support
Post-conference summary – report available upon request for the referring court or agency.

We welcome the opportunity to support courts, magistrates, and legal practitioners in offering a genuine alternative to traditional sentencing, especially in matters where rehabilitation and reconciliation are achievable.

Please contact me at 0426982455 or [email protected] if you would like further information, or to discuss a potential matter.

We can prioritise our kids’ wellbeing by letting them be kids, especially after separation or divorce. (Link to our parenting plan template is below.)

While every divorce or separation is different, it can be common for parents to:
- get kids involved in arguments
- create situations where kids have to choose sides, or
- criticise their former partner in front of their kids.

Avoiding these things helps your child adjust to their new normal.

Our online program for separating parents has a parenting plan template. It also has a guide for each age, including what to expect and how to best support children: https://www.triplep-parenting.net.au/au/parenting-courses/family-transitions-triple-p-online

Or comment below for a link to our course straight to your inbox.

If you are experiencing domestic violence or abuse or feel unsafe, please contact 1800 RESPECT for free and confidential assistance.
