Celebrating 70 Years of Trilby Misso Lawyers ❤️

On Saturday evening, we had the pleasure of bringing together our staff, their partners, friends and the people we’ve worked closely with over the years to celebrate this very special milestone.

More than just a celebration, the evening was a chance to reflect on seven decades of history, the people who have shaped Trilby Misso Lawyers into what it is today, and the relationships, dedication and shared values that have remained at the heart of our practice throughout the years.

We were also incredibly proud to support Youngcare Australia as part of this special evening, raising funds and sharing awareness of the important work they do for young Australians with complex and permanent physical disabilities. Youngcare is dedicated to creating a future where young people have the freedom, independence and dignity to choose where they live, who they live with and how they live their lives. Through our Sparkle Bar, raffles, silent auctions and generous donations, our guests helped raise funds to support this important work.

A huge thank you to the incredible businesses and individuals who donated prizes, and to everyone who purchased tickets, placed bids or made a contribution. Your generosity helped make this possible. We'd also like to thank the Youngcare team for joining us on the night, and their wonderful volunteers for giving their time to support the event.

We were fortunate to hear from our Director, Bill Andrews, and CEO, Kathryn MacDonell, who shared some wonderful reflections on the history of Trilby Misso Lawyers, how far we've come and the people who have helped shape our story.

A very special thank you to our keynote speaker, Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM, for sharing his extraordinary story. Hearing about the adversity he has overcome, his outlook on life and the way he continues to inspire others was incredibly moving. His words certainly left a lasting impression on everyone in the room.

And of course, thank you to our wonderful MC, Katrina Blowers, who brought so much warmth, energy and professionalism to the evening and helped everything run so smoothly.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate. It meant so much to share this milestone with the people who have been part of our journey, both past and present.

70 years is an incredible milestone, and we're so grateful for everyone who has been part of the Trilby Misso Lawyers story. Here's to the years ahead! ❤️

We’re proud to announce the promotion of Judy Macfarlan to Office Manager / Executive Assistant at Trilby Misso Lawyers.

Judy plays an important role across TML, with her work touching many different areas of the practice. From working closely with our executive team and supporting legal files to overseeing the day-to-day running of the office, Judy is central to keeping so much of what happens behind the scenes running smoothly.

Her role requires an incredible level of organisation and attention to detail, particularly in a busy law practice where there are always plenty of moving parts. Judy brings that together seamlessly, while providing important support across our legal and operational teams.

Drew has made a significant contribution to TML through his work with clients, his commitment to the law and the strong relationships he builds with the people he represents.

With extensive experience across workplace injury, motor vehicle accident and public liability matters, Drew has a particular focus on serious and complex compensation matters. His strong interest in litigation is reflected in the strategic and considered approach he brings to his work, along with his attention to detail and commitment to his clients.

Client service is an important part of Drew’s approach. He builds genuine rapport with his clients and takes the time to ensure they feel supported and informed throughout the legal process. We’re incredibly proud to announce the promotion of Shannon Brown to Senior Associate at Trilby Misso Lawyers.

Shannon’s promotion marks an exciting milestone in a career that has grown alongside TML. Having started with the firm as a Junior Legal Assistant, Shannon has progressed through the ranks to become a highly regarded lawyer and now, Senior Associate.

Throughout her career, Shannon has developed significant experience across compensation law in Queensland, as well as institutional abuse matters in New South Wales and Queensland. She brings a considered and compassionate approach to her work, particularly when supporting clients through complex and sensitive matters.

Shannon’s work has also received recognition from Doyle’s Guide for two consecutive years. After being recognised as a Recommended Lawyer in 2025, Shannon was elevated to a Leading Lawyer in the 2026 edition.

From Junior Legal Assistant to Senior Associate, Shannon’s progression reflects years of hard work, professional growth and commitment to both her clients and the firm. We’re incredibly proud to have seen her career develop at TML and to recognise this next step.

Having been part of TML for many years, Travis has built a strong career with the practice and has become a highly valued senior member of our legal team. His promotion reflects the experience, commitment and knowledge he has developed throughout that time.

Travis has broad experience across compensation law, including workplace injury, motor vehicle accident and public liability matters, as well as institutional abuse claims. He has a particular focus on complex, high-quantum matters, including serious workplace injuries involving permanent impairment and significant long-term impacts.

We're proud to announce the promotion of Chris Dormer to Chief Information Officer at Trilby Misso Lawyers.

As technology and AI continue to evolve, so does the way we work. At TML, embracing innovation goes hand in hand with using it carefully, responsibly and securely, particularly when it comes to protecting our clients and their information.

As Chief Information Officer, Chris will lead TML’s approach of all technology across the practice: strategy, data, AI and cyber security. He also continues as our Privacy Officer, responsible for how we protect the personal information our clients trust us with.

Chris has played an important role in this space at TML for many years. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the firm, particularly across technology strategy, data, cyber security and AI governance.

In his time at TML he has modernised the practice's core systems and put in place the governance to adopt new technology. He is also an active voice in the Australian legal technology community as an ALPMA committee member.

We’re looking for an experienced Personal Injury Lawyer to join our Brisbane C*D team.

In this full-time role, you’ll manage your own portfolio of WorkCover, motor vehicle and P**A matters, with the support of a dedicated Paralegal and Secretary. You’ll also lead your team, guide clients through their claims and work closely with barristers, insurers, medical professionals and other key stakeholders.

Initially, you’ll step into an established team and portfolio during a 12-month parental leave period, before moving into the opportunity to build and grow your own team and portfolio.

This role would suit someone ready to take the next step in their career, with the confidence to lead, manage relationships and drive strong client outcomes. You'll enjoy genuine flexibility, no daily time recording targets, and a culture built on trust, balance and respect.
