INVITATION TO PLA MEMBERS: SWEARING-IN CEREMONY OF JUDGE TANIA SHARKEY

Members of the Pacific Lawyers Association are invited by the Chief District Court Judge to attend the swearing-in ceremony of, our very own, Her Honour Judge Tania Sharkey.

Judge Sharkey has been (and continues to be) an integral part of the PLA. Her leadership as President between 2018 and 2021 saw our Association reach new and exciting milestones - for instance, the inaugural conference would not have been possible without her vision, commitment, and drive.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate her appointment and we hope to see many of you at the ceremony - either in person or virtually!

The ceremony details are as follows:

Date: Friday 4th August 2023 
Time: 3.30pm (Mihi Whakatau starts at 3.15pm, ceremony starts at 4pm)
Venue: Manukau District Court, Courtroom 1
Dress: All welcome to wear cultural attire, if you would like

Amazing evening celebrating 125 years of Philippines' Independence yesterday with the community at Tattersall's Club.

The 12th of June marked the day Filipino rebels declared the independence of the Philippines from Spanish rule in 1898.

Our very own Principal Director and Honorary Consul of Philippines to Queensland, Atty Sheryll Gabutero, with the support of the Philippines community organised this momentous night. It was an immaculate night of celebrations and well done 🙏🏽

The guest of honour was The Governor of Queensland Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, joined by Brisbane Lord Mayor, State Members, local councillors, judiciary and legal fraternity.

Thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers and dignitaries in attendance. It was a wonderful night celebrating our Filipino community, their culture, faith and significant impact in Australia. 🇭🇲🇵🇭
