I was focused on the road, and my wife captured the actual mood: cloudy sky, open highway, and desi chai trying to look corporate in a fancy cup. ☕

📍Returning from the Eid holidays, somewhere between the open road, cloudy sky, and home waiting ahead.

The Canvas cyber-attack disrupted online learning and affected an estimated 9,000 institutions across the US, Canada, Australia and the UK.

Instructure paid hackers after stolen student and university data was threatened. Its official statement describes the arrangement as an “agreement” with the unauthorised actor, and claims that the data was returned, digital confirmation of destruction was received and customers would not be extorted.

The Canvas hack is not only a ransom story.

It is a warning about how dependent modern education has become on private digital infrastructure. When the classroom moves online, privacy risk moves with it.

The ransom may have reduced the immediate threat of publication. It did not remove the deeper question.

Are education providers treating student data as carefully as they treat the classroom itself?

Bangladesh Bank has directed scheduled banks to add QR codes to bank statements, solvency certificates, investment certificates and similar documents issued for visa applications.

This means embassies and visa centres should be able to scan the QR code and verify key account information such as the account number, account name, opening balance, closing balance and statement generation date.

Banks must keep the verification information digitally accessible for at least six months and complete technical preparations within 90 days from 12 May 2026.

The rule is aimed at reducing fake or manipulated financial documents, cutting down manual verification delays and improving trust in Bangladeshi visa-related bank documents.

This is not just a technology update. It is a banking-regulatory direction issued under section 45 of the Bank Company Act 1991.

📍 Adelaide, South Australia 🇦🇺

7:55 pm on the clock, and the 20-minute city is still glowing under the late summer sky.

From the 20th floor up, the streets, hills, trees and buses look calm, clean and quietly alive.

Planned by Colonel William Light in 1837, Adelaide still shows its wide streets, squares and green park lands.

Not quite day, not fully night. Just Adelaide glowing before goodbye. 😎

📍 Pioneers’ Memorial, Glenelg, South Australia 🇦🇺

At Glenelg, the sea, sky and history meet in one bright frame. The Pioneer Memorial stands near Moseley Square, built in 1936 to mark 100 years since South Australia’s colonial beginning at Holdfast Bay.

Behind it, the Ferris wheel, palms and blue ocean give the place a holiday feel.

📍 Gympie and Widgee War Memorial Gates, Mary Street, Gympie.

At the entrance to Gympie Memorial Park, these gates quietly hold one of the town’s most meaningful stories. Unveiled in 1920, they honour local men from the Boer War and the First World War.

The sandstone pillars, iron gates and hanging lantern make the entrance a beautiful old gateway.

Some gates do not just open a path. They open a story. 😇

📍 Gympie District Court, QLD 🇭🇲

In the middle of Gympie, this clock tower rises above the street like the town’s old timekeeper. Built between 1900 and 1902, the red brick courthouse was designed by John Smith Murdoch and is now listed on the Queensland Heritage Register.

For a traveller, it is a beautiful old landmark. For a lawyer, it carries something deeper: a quiet reminder of law, order and community in a regional town.

Some buildings do not just stand in a place. They help tell the place. 😍

📍 The Lady of the Mary, Gympie, QLD. 🇭🇲

A quiet figure stepping out of the past, right in the middle of town, Gympie.

This sculpture reflects the women of early Gympie, when the gold rush in the late 1860s brought life and hardship along the Mary River.

Walking past her on Mary Street, you will feel that mix of history and everyday life with old timber buildings, small shops, and stories that still sit in the streets.

She feels like a reminder of the people who helped build this town, one step at a time.
