💜 A future free from violence is possible 💜
ARC Justice is proud to work closely with our friends at the Centre for Non Violence to support people experiencing family violence across central and northern Victoria.
Our teams work alongside each other every day, connecting people with legal help, family violence support and other services when they need them. We see firsthand how important that joined-up response is.
But responding to violence is only part of the picture. Preventing it in the first place takes all of us.
On International Day of Non-Violence, CNV’s message is worth sharing: what we accept, what we challenge and how we treat each other matters.
Today is International Day of Non-Violence.
We all have a responsibility to prevent violence in our communities.
Gender-based violence knows no culture, religion or borders.
It happens in every community, in every country in every town, suburb and street, because the drivers of violence – the conditions that condone violence against women - are universal...
Rigid gender stereotypes? Tick!
Rigid views on masculinity and what it means to be a man? Tick!
A belief that women's rights have gone too far? Tick!
This International Day of Non-Violence we call on everyone in our communities to stop condoning violence.
We can do that by:
• choosing to not look the other way.
• choosing to not share the meme, or laugh at the joke.
• choosing to call out the text message.
• choosing universal respect for all human beings, irrespective of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, education or political beliefs.
Violence against women and children is entirely preventable - and it begins with us.
