And that’s a wrap! After 36 plus years in law, it’s time to retire and pursue other interests. It’s been a remarkable journey and a privilege to serve the communities in which I’ve lived and worked. Thanks to my wonderful family, friends, colleagues and clients for your support over the years.

Parents are naturally concerned about their obligations to comply with parenting orders at present. The Chief Justice of the Family Court has issued a media release hoping to provide some guidance. The overwhelming message seems to be that current orders must be complied with, but the primary consideration of the best interests of the children in the circumstances will prevail. What that means for individual families will vary. If you are unsure of your obligations we are happy to offer you telephone advice at no charge.

Our clients, their families and our community are of paramount importance to us.

We treat both Commonwealth and State Government announcements very seriously. We wish to reassure our clients that we are well placed to continue working on current matters and take on new work in a socially responsible manner by conducting all appointments by telephone, FaceTime or Skype.

The courts have put in place measures to deal with urgent matters relating to domestic violence and urgent children’s issues. If this is likely to impact you please call. Other measures have been put in place to ensure matters progress as best as possible in the circumstances.

This is incredibly sad. No one should suffer domestic violence.

Fueled by news stories involving abuse, the hotline saw a 36 percent rise in calls, online chats and texts compared to the year before.
