Golden Plains Legal is the first permanent, full-time law firm located in Bannockburn servicing the Golden Plains Shire. Pauline Boyd and Penny Jelfs began a close friendship over 20 years ago while working together in a prominent Geelong law firm. Pauline, a local resident, commenced her legal career in 1989 and was one of the first female lawyers in Geelong. Penny, who grew up in Teesdale, is an experienced and highly competent Office Administrator and Paralegal. Having close links to the local community Pauline and Penny saw that there was a need for a permanent, full-time law firm that would not only support community residents and businesses but organisations within the Golden Plains Shire. They recognised that the Shire, being one of the fastest growing in Victoria, will continue to grow and expand and they felt that it was important that the community had convenient access to high quality, cost effective legal services. Since 1989 Pauline has practiced law extensively in both Victoria and Queensland; recently heading the Wills and Estates division of a Brisbane law firm and then as a Manager of the Wills Unit at the Public Trustee. In addition, Pauline is also a qualified and experienced Mediator and Counsellor which she believes significantly compliments her legal experience. She has also worked with the Victorian Government (Disability Services) and has provided business and legal assistance to numerous community service organisations. Pauline also provides pro bono legal assistance to community not-for-profit organisations. Penny has gained extensive experience in legal and senior administrative roles both in Australia and overseas. She is looking forward to using her experience to benefit the local community where she grew up and where her children spent the formative years of their lives.
