Ward Keller is looking for a versatile legal receptionist/administrative clerk and settlements clerk to assist our Alice Springs legal team.

The successful settlements clerk candidate, will have:

• some Northern Territory property transaction experience with respect to booking settlements and preparing settlement documentation
• liaising with internal and external clients
• attending settlements at the Land Titles Office
• excellent time management and organisational skills
• a good communication skill set, particularly telephone and interpersonal skills
• fast and accurate typing skills with excellent spelling and grammar
• attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
• a proven ability to prioritise in order to meet deadlines
• a positive team mentality

Your duties will also include:-

• Monthly billing
• Preparation of daily follow-ups and task lists
• File maintenance
• Diary management/scheduling settlements

On the job training will be provided with this role.

As a receptionist, you will be required to:

• welcome clients and visitors
• answer and forward calls in a professional manner
• handle enquiries
• schedule and confirm appointments
• direct the flow of mail and deliveries to the intended recipients
• observe and maintain our obligations in accordance with our safety plan
• order and replenish office supplies
• manage the maintenance and repair of office equipment
• assist with copying, scanning, faxing and emailing tasks
• work as a team and provide support and back up to the paralegal
• preparing meeting facilities and arranging refreshments, where necessary.

Candidates for both positions should exhibit excellent word processing, written and verbal communication skills and competency; observe business etiquette and maintain a professional appearance.

These are permanent fulltime positions with salary commensurate with experience. You will be working in a well resourced, friendly environment with career opportunities.

Robyn Lambley is the Member for Araluen in the Northern Territory parliament, Deputy Leader of the new Territory Alliance Party and a long term resident of Alice Springs.

Robyn was born in northern New South Wales, in a country town called Grafton. After earning a degree in social work, Robyn worked for a few years before deciding to head overseas as a solo backpacker. Her first destination: Sri Lanka.

Robyn talks about her childhood, backpacking adventures, her decision to move Alice Springs, politics (including her very candid comments on what happened to the CLP from the time she first joined the party to the time she made the very difficult decision to leave and become an Independent) and her new role with Territory Alliance, on this episode of Territory Story.

This is Tanya Heaslip.

Born in South Australia, Tanya’s family moved to Alice Springs when she was four and she grew up on a cattle station.

Schooling consisted of School of the Air but she finished high school in Adelaide and then decided to do law. However the Territory was always in her heart and she came back and started her career in Darwin with the government. Her first assignment was assisting with the second inquest into the death of Azaria Chamberlain, arguably the most high profile case in the history of Australia.

Tanya has spent time working in Darwin, Alice and also in Western Australia, but perhaps most interestingly, she has had a long running love affair with Prague. She has authored two books and intends to write two more.

This is Dave Ives.

Dave is a perpetually happy American Australian living in Alice Springs.

Originally from New Hampshire, Dave joined the US Air Force as a medic and worked in the US until he was posted to Womera in outback South Australia. He met his Filipino wife there.

They eventually returned to the US but Australia’s Cupid’s arrow had pierced Dave’s heart. He returned to Womera as a civilian and then moved to Alice Springs with his wife and two girls.

Dave Ives is Alice Springs’s biggest fan. He has written six books about his life and released songs about Alice Springs. You can hear his story on the next episode of Territory Story.

Chloe Erlich is a photographer and a granddaughter of Bernie Kilgariff, one of the founders of the Country Liberal Party and a former Senator for the Northern Territory.

Born in Alice Springs, Chloe has spent most of her life there with exception of a short stint in Adelaide and Darwin.

As a photographer she’s had some interesting assignments, including photographing Oprah Winfrey when she came to Alice Springs.

Cheeky and impetuous by nature, Chloe lives for the moment. This was evident in her story about the time she attended a KISS concert and caught the attention of bad boy, Gene Simmons, with a saucy move.

But like many Australians who seemingly lead ordinary lives, Chloe has battled with depression. She wanted to share her story so that people can better understand it.

This is Chloe’s Territory Story.
