U.S. visa screening does not stop after a visa is issued. We continuously check visa holders to ensure they follow all U.S. laws and immigration rules – and we will revoke their visas and deport them if they don’t.

Starting Monday, December 9, 2024, new security measures will be in place for interviews at the U.S. Consulate.❗️Applicants will not be allowed to bring backpacks, luggage, or handbags to the embassy premises.
These measures are necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of the interview process for visa applicants. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation in adhering to these guidelines and appreciate your support in maintaining a safe and smooth process for everyone involved.

✔️ Please plan accordingly to leave these items at home or in a secure location before coming to the embassy.

The entry period is now closed. Selections will be made in May 2025. Remember:

The website dvprogram.state.gov/ESC/ is the ONLY means by which you will be informed of your selection. Do NOT be fooled by letters or e-mail announcements.

Keep your confirmation number. In May 2025, you will need the confirmation number you received at the time you entered to check your status online at dvprogram.state.gov/ESC/.

Being selected does NOT guarantee you an interview or a visa. In order to issue as many visas as possible, there will be more selectees than there are visas available.

The maximum number of diversity visas available each year is 55,000. To maximize your chances of receiving a visa, you should gather required materials and pursue your application as quickly as possible.

The entry period closes at 12:00 p.m. EST today, November 7, 2024. Remember to only submit ONE entry per person. If you enter more than once, you will be disqualified. https://dvprogram.state.gov/ is the ONLY place to enter.

Submitting an entry for the Diversity Visa Program? A few reminders:

Beware of those who charge a fee to help you. There is NO fee to enter and dvprogram.state.gov is the only way to submit an entry. Do not be fooled by scams or fake websites.

Make sure your photo was taken in the last six months! Using an old photo will disqualify your entry.

You must list your spouse and all unmarried children under the age of 21 in your entry, even if they won’t be traveling or immigrating with you.
