A German Government funded project and implemented by GIZ, that supports the preparations of Albanian Governement for EU accession negotiations in Cluster 2 Internal Market (Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 28) and Chapter 20 (part of Cluster 3) The country got in March 2020 the green light for opening accession talks with the EU. Negotiations are conducted along 35 policy areas covered by EU le
gislation - chapter of the acquis. Negotiating structures should demonstrate the country’s level of compliance with and implementation of the acquis. We focus on three key intervention areas:
• Developing approaches and methodologies so that members of negotiating structures can assess and present the country’s legal and institutional compliance with the acquis.
• Advancing preparations for meeting benchmarks. We provide expertise on preparing concept papers for strategic documents, consultation with stakeholders, advise and train negotiating structures for preparing strategies and action plans.
• Engaging civil society. The acquis affects a wide array of stakeholders- from private sector to consumer protection organisations. We therefore support negotiating structures to prepare stakeholder analyses in respective chapters, organise information and discussion rounds and provide ground for civil society to make recommendations on furthering negotiations.
