In criminal investigations, consistency matters as much as the evidence itself.

Give your lawyer a complete and accurate account at the earliest opportunity, including facts that may appear unfavourable. A defence is considerably stronger when counsel can distinguish what is admitted from what is disputed and test whether the prosecution has independent evidence for the more serious allegation.

In DIFC litigation, a missed deadline is rarely just a missed deadline. It can be a turning point.

A defendant’s failure to acknowledge service or file a defence is often assumed to be procedural inertia. In reality, it can reflect anything from tactical delay to internal disarray, or in some cases, a calculated gamble that the claimant will falter procedurally.

It is precisely at this intersection that Default Judgment emerges as a decisive litigation tool.

Never sign a settlement because the dispute feels over.

Read it as though the relationship will break down again tomorrow. A settlement should not merely record what is being paid. It should deal expressly with releases, existing proceedings, security, enforcement rights, guarantees, costs and what happens on default. Ambiguity at settlement often creates the next dispute.
