The Ministry of Justice issued a letter (MOJ Letter) on September 13 2022 addressed to Dubai Courts in light of UK Supreme Courts decision to enforce a Judgment issued by Dubai Courts regarding Case Lenkor Energy Trading DMCC v Puri (2020) EWHC 75 (QB) (Lenkor).

The Letter seeks that Dubai Courts take this into account when considering applications that seek to enforce judgments from English Courts in hopes to enhance the reciprocity principle between the two Courts.

New UAE Decree comes into effect on December 15. The Decree on licensing and regulating offices recruiting domestic helpers sets forth that employers are prohibited from hiring household workers unless they have obtained the relevant license from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).

The new Decree aims to regulate and safeguard the rights of domestic helpers.

Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021 on the Regulation of Employment Relations (the ‘Employment Law’).

An employer or an employee may terminate the employment contract (assuming probation period is over) by serving the stipulated notice period as stated in Article 43 (1) "Either party to the employment contract may terminate the contract for any legitimate reason, provided that the other party is notified in writing and work shall be performed during the notice period agreed upon in the contract, provided that such period is not less than (30) thirty days and not more than (90) ninety days.”
