With the UAE’s new music licensing framework coming into effect from December 2026, businesses that commercially use music, including restaurants, hotels, malls, gyms and other commercial establishments, may need to obtain a licence and pay applicable fees. The framework aims to ensure that creators and rights holders are fairly recognised and compensated for the use of their work.
Educational and academic institutions, government entities, music used during national occasions and personal celebrations or other non-commercial events are exempt under the current framework.
For artists, composers, songwriters, musicians and music companies, this is another important reminder to secure and manage your copyright and intellectual property rights.
If you have not protected your music yet, copyright your creative work with Axiom Mark and take the right steps to safeguard your IP.
