Dubai Airport just made passport control almost instant — literally.

In February 2026, Dubai activated 122 biometric smart gates across its airports, cutting passport control down to around 5 seconds for eligible travelers — no queue, no manual stamp, just a quick biometric scan and you're through. In the first half of 2026 alone, over 9.4 million passengers used this smart immigration system.

This is one of the busiest international airports on Earth, and it's turning what used to be a 20-30 minute queue into a walk-through.

What is a DLD fee? The 4% cost every property buyer in Dubai pays, no matter which one they choose.

Every property sale in Dubai has to be registered with the Dubai Land Department, and that registration comes with a transfer fee — a flat 4% of the property's value. On top of that, there's a small fixed admin charge, around AED 580 for an apartment or office, AED 430 for land.

It's usually paid by the buyer, though the split can be negotiated with the seller depending on the deal. Either way, it's not optional — no DLD registration means no legal, provable ownership.

Budget for it before you make an offer, not after.
