REAL SCAM. REAL TACTIC. YOUR WHATSAPP COULD BE NEXT.

A scammer in this video pretends to be the Chief Justice of Zambia and attempts to convince the target to share a WhatsApp verification code.

This is how a WhatsApp takeover can begin.
The scammer may use:
• A respected person's name or identity
• Urgent or convincing messages
• A phone call to build trust
• A request for the 6-digit WhatsApp verification code

STOP. THAT CODE IS NOT FOR SHARING.
Your WhatsApp verification code is used to register your account on a device. If someone convinces you to give them that code, they may be able to take control of your WhatsApp account.
How to protect yourself:

1. NEVER share your WhatsApp verification code.
Not with a friend. Not with a colleague. Not with someone claiming to be a senior official.
2. VERIFY BEFORE YOU TRUST.
If someone claims to be a government official, boss, friend or relative, independently verify their identity using a known phone number or another trusted channel.
3. DON'T BE PRESSURED BY URGENCY.
Scammers often create panic or urgency so that you act before thinking.
4. TURN ON TWO-STEP VERIFICATION.
Add an extra layer of protection to your WhatsApp account.
5. IF YOU RECEIVE A SUSPICIOUS REQUEST, STOP.

Do not click, share codes or transfer money until you have verified the request.

Remember:
A familiar name does not prove identity.
A familiar profile picture does not prove identity.
A phone call does not prove identity.

VERIFY. DON'T TRUST BLINDLY.
Cyber security is everyone's business.
Don't make it easy for scammers, Mr. Mwanza did not make it easy for scammers, neither should you!!

The Zambia Cyber Security Agency ZCSA, held two engagements today 9th September 2026 towards beginning collaboration with key Government bodies aligned with achieving it's strategic goals.
The two key institutions are The Gender Division under The Republican Presidents Office and The Department of National Guidance and Religious Affairs which falls under The office of The Vice President.
The two Government bodies are strategic partners identified as critical for the roll out of ZCSA awareness programs as their work hinges on key targeted actors of ZCSA awareness programs .
The Gender Division works with groups that are identified as vulnerable to scams, online theft , fraud, Cyber bullying and all other Cyber vice whilst the work of The Department of National Guidance and Religious Affairs hinges on the mandate of The agency which is at its core to promote responsible online conduct and use of digital platforms under the guidance of The National Values and Principle's Article No.8 of the Zambian Constitution.
The meetings held today pave way for the effective roll out of ZCSA awareness programs which kick off definitively with The observation of The Cyber Security Awareness month in October.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿-𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺.

The Zambia Cyber Security Agency (ZCSA) has called for stronger collaboration with Computer Science teachers and the education sector to promote digital safety, strengthen cybersecurity awareness and nurture Zambia’s future cyber professionals.
The call was made at the COSTAZ Lusaka Provincial Conference 2026 last Friday 4th September 2026 ,at Munali Secondary School, it brought together 215 Computer Science and ICT teachers from across Lusaka Province.

𝗞𝗘𝗬 𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

• Train and certify Cybersecurity Education Champions
• Establish school cybersecurity clubs and competitions
• Promote cyber-readiness assessments and research
• Support learner innovation and cybersecurity careers
• Strengthen cyber incident reporting
• Promote responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
ZCSA Acting Director – Research, Education and Awareness, Mr Edgar Mlauzi, proposed a Teacher Multiplier Model to equip selected teachers with cybersecurity resources and enable them to share knowledge within schools and communities.
Lusaka Provincial Education Officer, Mr Terry Changwe, challenged teachers to turn the Competence-Based Curriculum into practical skills and innovation:

“𝑨 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆-𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒖𝒎 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒇𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍. 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒆 𝒂𝒄𝒕.”

ZCSA Deputy Director – Policy and Standards, Mr Abel Bihinda, emphasised that cybersecurity is a national resilience issue:

“𝑪𝒚𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕.”

The proposed ZCSA–COSTAZ partnership will begin with a focused pilot and a 12-month roadmap, with plans to progressively expand across provinces.
