8-year-Old Girl Dies in Fatal Road Accident

AN 8-YEAR-GIRL of Libala south in Lusaka, has tragically lost her life, after being hit by a motor vehicle early this morning around 06:45hrs along New Kasama road in chalala area.
According to a statement issued by The Zambia Police, the accident involved a Toyota RAV4 which was being driven by Clara Chimbeya of Chalala
Police reports indicate that the vehicle was traveling northbound at the time of the incident and struck Two child pedestrians, one lost her life on the spot, while the other sustained serious injuries.
The deceased, a pupil at a local school in Libala South sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
The injured child, a 7-year-old girl from the same area and school, is currently receiving treatment at UTH.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident occurred when the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle, lost control, and hit the pedestrians.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the UTH mortuary and is awaiting a postmortem examination, while investigations are on-going
