We are delighted to spotlight our second speaker for the skills training on Managing Arbitration under ICC, Ciarb and UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules: Strategies for Lawyers and Arbitrators scheduled for 14-15 July.
Ms. Madeline Kimei is the visionary founder and principal of IRESOLVE, a fully-fledged ADR and ODR provider established in 2014. Ms. Kimei is a seasoned settlement counsel and arbitration practitioner with over 18 years' experience in complex, high-value disputes and providing corporate legal advisory. In 2025, Madeline joined 3 Verulam Building Chambers (UK) as Associate Member and recently established her stand-alone and independent arbitrator practice, Global Arbitration Square (GAS).
She is the Immediate Past President of Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators (TIArb); sits on the LACIAC Court of Arbitration; is the Chairperson of Medical Teams International in Tanzania; and sits on various other boards.
Ms. Kimei accepts appointments as a neutral in the capacity of an arbitrator, mediator, conciliator, or adjudicator. She has participated as counsel or tribunal secretary in numerous commercial arbitrations under institutional arbitration rules (ICC, KIAC, LCIA, CRCICA, UNCITRAL and the 1990 EDF) as well as in ad hoc proceedings and has also represented clients in arbitration- related proceedings before the Tanzanian courts. Her experience covers a broad range of commercial sectors, including construction, mining, sale of goods, real estate development, banking, insurance, fintech, telecoms and tax-related disputes. Ms. Kimei is a trainer and facilitator in commercial mediation, arbitration, and ODR. Her work also involves designing and implementing dispute resolution systems for industry bodies and extending advisory.
Ms. Kimei is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK branch) and boasts as a Member of the World Bank's ICSID Panel of Conciliators and in 2022, the European Commission included her on the list of arbitrators suitable for appointment as Chairperson in arbitrations under trade agreements to which the EU is a party. Kimei also sits on various institutional panels such as the Kigali International Arbitration Centre (KIAC), TIArb, HKIAC, BIAMC, SHIAC and more recently she was appointed to the ICANN IRP Panel under the AAA-ICDR.
Ms. Kimei also writes and publishes frequently on arbitration, mediation, Online Dispute Resolution, and other related fields. Madeline recently received various recognitions in the field namely the 2023 ADR recognition award from the Judiciary of Tanzania, Mediation Centre; was listed among 100 Tanzanian Changemakers 2023 and in 2026 received the recognition for strong professional visibility and impactful contribution to the advancement of ADR from that Tanzanian International Arbitration Centre (TIAC).
